Business Requirement

The client was converting a heritage property in Lucknow into a hotel and required complete as-built drawings and 3D modelling to support the conversion process across the entire 43,780 sqm property.

Proposed Solution

We carried out comprehensive 3D laser scanning across the property, with all rooms
and openings cleared beforehand to ensure clean data capture. Photogrammetry
was used alongside scanning to support documentation of architectural details and
conservation with condition mapping.

In total, 2,325 scans were captured across the site. The point cloud data was
processed and registered in FARO SCENE within 5 days, achieving 2mm accuracy.
As-built drawings were completed in AutoCAD within 25 days, followed by 3D
modelling in Revit over 30 days, using RECAP to manage and reference the point
cloud data throughout.

Challenges Faced

Inconsistent lighting conditions across different areas of the heritage property affected scan quality in certain zones. The basement was not adequately cleaned during our first site visit, requiring a second visit after the area was cleared to capture usable data. The site also had a generally dusty environment throughout, which required extra care during scanning and equipment handling.

Outcome

Complete as-built drawings and detailed 3D models delivered within the project timeline, giving the client accurate documentation to support the heritage property's conversion into a boutique hotel.
