Business Requirement
The client required complete documentation of their mining plant operations for relocation to another country. Accurate as-built models and detailed data were essential to enable efficient disassembly, transportation, and reinstallation of the entire facility at the new location. Comprehensive 3D documentation would minimize downtime and installation errors during the complex plant relocation process.
Proposed Solution
We performed comprehensive 3D laser scanning of the entire mining plant during the planned shutdown using FARO Focus technology to capture all equipment, structures, and infrastructure. The detailed point cloud data was processed through FARO SCENE and developed into complete as-built 3D models and technical documentation in REVIT format. This digital repository provided the new location team with precise installation blueprints and sequencing data to facilitate rapid and accurate plant reassembly with minimal errors and delays.
Challenges Faced
Extreme ambient temperatures near 45°C and seasonal summer rainfall created challenging environmental conditions that required specialized equipment protection and careful operational planning. The mining site contained radioactive metal components requiring strict safety protocols, specialized handling procedures, and compliance with international radiation safety standards throughout the scanning process. We utilized a 12-meter scissor lift to safely access and scan 10-meter-high pipe racks and elevated equipment structures in this hazardous industrial environment.

Complete as-built 3D documentation enabling seamless plant relocation with precise installation blueprints for the new facility location.
