Business Requirement
The client required 3D laser scanning and an LOD 400 as-built modelling of their Chassis and Cockpit Production lines to support engineering and installation planning to execute the new car assembly line that aligned with existing plant infrastructure.
Proposed Solution
Scanning was carried out during the shutdown of Plant using FARO Focus scanners, with zero disruption to production. Point cloud data was processed in FARO SCENE and developed into an LOD 400 as-built model in REVIT.
Challenges Faced
Working near automation robots on both lines required strict safety compliance. A scissor lift was used to scan elevated structures, while human movement around equipment added coordination challenges to maintain accuracy and safety. Gate lock LOTO protocols were strictly followed near active robotic automation.
